Blogging as a Business - How to publish a blog to boost your business

My hand's-down favorite business booster is to blog... blogging as a business has been very very good to me.

I know, I know... blogging seems to "part timish." Most people who blog write about hobbies or family unions. And that's cool.

But for me, starting a blog business allows me to write about hobbies and make a full-time income at the very same time.

The blogging business model rocks. I wish I blogged years ago. Before blogging, I hand coded web pages with my content. And that was great and worked well. But blogging kicks it up a notch and streamlines my content creation. That's because blogging virtually automates all aspects of writing web content. And when you write a blog post the right way, Google knows about it within minutes and starts sending me free internet traffic.

Writing a blog post can literally change your life. Because each word you write often shows up in a search engine. And if that word (or phrase) gets searched a lot, you might get Google (as well as Yahoo! and Bing) to send you lots of traffic... visits to your blog posts.

And the best part is unlike paid traffic, these visits won't cost you a single, red penny.

For me, blogging offers these 3 big benefits:

Instant traffic
I can count on traffic in mere moments as those who subscribe to my blog alerts get instant notification. I'm elated because the moment I publish a post, my traffic stats show a quick burst of visitors to my blog. Some click on ads (which pays me) and others buy my stuff (which of course pays me, too).

In fact, if I want a quick blast of cash to land into my bank account, I just craft an under-1,000-word blog post (just like this one) and within minutes my bank account starts to grow.

I like instant traffic, but I like this better:

Almost-instant traffic
When people visit my blog, they're often in search for solutions to their problems.

That's where the blog's search box kicks in... I've got a mini Google search engine ready to work on each of my blog posts... and I rank #1 each time because all results point to my blog content.

And it's 100% FREE... already working once I install my favorite blogging software.

Instant- and almost-instant traffic rocks, but my absolute favorite type of traffic to my blog is:

Set-it-and-forget-it, lifetime traffic
This is my hand's down favorite benefit of blogging...

... Because when the top search engines match the words on my blog with the same word searches at either Google, Yahoo! or Bing, I have a very good chance of getting those search visitors to click and visit my blog posts.

What's awesome is when you play by the rules, search engines send you their searchers day after day - even weekends and holidays. In simple speak, the traffic never stops.

Keep in mind that the traffic search engines send us is the EXACT same traffic they charge us via pay per click. I pinch myself when I check stats and see 350+ visitors a day to just one of my blog posts... knowing if I paid just 50 cents a click, that would set me back at least $175.00 a day. But with free, organic traffic, I get these same visitors at no charge.

Now that you know blogging is a great way to attract precisely qualified leads to our websites, I'd like to share some of my best-kept blogging secrets:

The best day to blog
I find every day is a good day to blog - but some days are better than others. I check my webstats daily to monitor the busiest days of the week and blog on these days...

... At the same time, I look for the slowest days of the week and avoid blogging on those days. For me, Friday thru Sundays are days I avoid and Monday morning is the best.

Focus on these 2 hotspots
If doesn't matter if you blog about back pain or how to export organic rice to Hawaii... the two most looked-at sections of your blog are the "About Us" and "Product" links.

Trust is a big factor these days and your visitors are sleuthing for clues to see if you are trustworthy.... thus they click on your "About Us" link to investigate you.

Clicking on the "Products" link is a search to find stuff you offer for sale.

Both of these links are CRUCIAL as tweaking each could make a big difference in the profitability of your blog.

The "About Us" page should EXUDE personality. Tell visitors about yourself as if you were talking to a new friend.

Your "Products" page is all about selling visitors solutions to their perceived problems. I suggest using a "sitemap" format... list all of your products for sale as merely a clickable link and skip the long-winded sales pitches.

Craft a great blog title
The absolute most important sentence on each webpage is the blog title.

A great blog title can get you ranked on the first page of Google.

Since over 80% of web searches are 3-word searches, make sure to use a popular 3-word keyword phrase in your title. And have that 3-word phrase begin your blog title. Try to have your blog title no longer than 66 characters.

Bottom line: Blogging rocks. It's the all-in-one solution to manage all of your website content and attract FREE search engine traffic...
